For new investment firms

Build the research system before the portfolio outgrows it.

Altys helps a new PMS, AIF, family office, advisory or research team establish sourced data, repeatable analysis, models, scorecards, decision records and continuous monitoring—without first building an internal data and AI engineering organisation.

The operating problem

The earliest shortcuts become the firm’s hardest systems to replace.

A few spreadsheets and folders feel efficient at launch. They become fragile when more companies, people, portfolios and reporting cycles arrive.

01

Excel becomes every system

The model, database, filing archive, task list and decision history collapse into workbooks that only one person understands.

02

Research standards stay implicit

Analysts use different sources, formulas and checklists because the firm never wrote the common operating method.

03

AI is added without controls

A general chatbot is asked for numbers and conclusions before the team defines sourcing, verification, privacy or approval boundaries.

The workflow

A 90-day path to an institutional research process.

Start with governance, then add automation where the work is repetitive and verifiable.

01

Mandate

Define the investable universe, constraints, evidence policy and decision rights.

02

Foundation

Choose primary sources, point-in-time data, document storage and common metric definitions.

03

Method

Standardise the company packet, models, scorecards, committee memo and exception process.

04

Monitoring

Name company-specific guideposts and route material changes to responsible reviewers.

05

Learning

Compare forecasts and decisions with outcomes so the firm’s own history improves the process.

What the system adds

Start simple without building something disposable.

You do not need an AI strategy. You need a research process in which every fact is sourced, every calculation is inspectable and every decision has an owner.
Configured around your mandateUse the firm’s universe, exclusions, screens, factors, models and monitoring priorities.
Works with existing spreadsheetsKeep analyst models in Excel while improving the data, sourcing, refresh and verification around them.
No data team required to beginUse maintained India-first financial and document infrastructure instead of operating the common plumbing internally.
Room to become proprietaryPreserve firm-specific scorecards, questions, decisions, portfolio context and feedback as institutional memory.
Questions, answered

What teams ask before a pilot.

What software does a new investment firm need?

At minimum, a firm needs primary-document and data infrastructure, analysis and modelling tools, a decision record, portfolio context, continuous monitoring and durable research memory. The exact systems depend on the mandate.

Do we need an internal AI team?

No. A new investment firm can use maintained research infrastructure and configure its own process. Custom engineering is most valuable later, where proprietary data or workflow creates a genuine edge.

Can we keep our existing Excel models?

Yes. Altys is designed to work with spreadsheets rather than force their removal. Excel remains useful for assumptions, scenarios and verification while the platform handles shared data, evidence and monitoring.

What should a new firm automate first?

Start with filing collection, data standardisation, document comparison, repeatable screens and monitoring of defined events. Keep forecasts, exceptions, position sizes and final decisions explicitly human-owned.

Can Altys help configure the initial workflow?

Yes. A one-month pilot can be organised around the firm’s real universe, scorecards, financial models and monitoring rules, with hands-on implementation support.

One-month pilot

Design the first version around real work.

Bring your mandate, company universe and one existing spreadsheet or checklist. We will configure a pilot around the process the firm wants to preserve.
