AI Research Tools for Hedge Funds: Rogo, Koyfin, Pascal and Altys
Compare AI research tools by job: financial agents, market analytics, research management and India coverage. A practical hedge-fund evaluation guide.
AI research tools for hedge funds should be compared by the job they complete, not by whether they include a chatbot. Rogo, Koyfin, Pascal AI Labs, AlphaSense, Hudson Labs, Bipsync and Altys enter the research process from different starting points.
A fund may need several of them rather than a single replacement for its entire stack. Finding external evidence, analysing markets, applying a research method and retaining the firm’s work are connected tasks, but they are not identical products.
Public product information reviewed 15 October 2026. Altys publishes this comparison and is one of the products discussed. These are vendor-stated descriptions, not independently tested performance results. Confirm coverage, entitlements, deployment and terms directly with each provider.
Start with the research bottleneck
Before booking demos, describe one assignment your team currently struggles to finish. “Research a company” is too open-ended. “Reconcile its latest result with our previous assumptions, preserve the sources and hand the review to another analyst” is testable.
Separate the content licence from the software. A connection to a data provider does not necessarily include a licence to every dataset or the right to redistribute its contents. Ask which subscriptions remain necessary and what an exported artifact is allowed to contain.
Then distinguish research from trading. A useful company-analysis system does not automatically replace an order-management system, a portfolio accounting system, a borrow feed or an execution platform.
The shortlist by starting point
Rogo and financial workflows
Rogo’s platform describes finance-specific agents, reusable firm knowledge, connected sources and governance controls. Its current proposition extends beyond a one-off document answer or presentation generator.
For evaluation, give it a repeatable assignment with a required output and review standard. Inspect the sources, the work handed to the analyst and what is retained for the next assignment. Do not assume its capabilities stop at investment-banking tasks.
Koyfin and market analytics
Koyfin presents a market-analysis workspace with dashboards, charts, financial analysis, screening, portfolio analysis and reports.
If the team’s bottleneck is comparing market data and maintaining a useful view of its universe, test those activities directly. Separately test any requirement for private research records or an AI workflow; a strong charting experience does not settle every other procurement question.
Pascal AI Labs and enterprise research agents
Pascal AI Labs describes institutional research agents, source-cited reasoning, firm context and connections to enterprise information. Its public materials also discuss deployment within a firm’s governance perimeter.
Ask which documents and providers are supported in your proposed configuration, how entitlements apply and what the final analyst receives. Deployment statements need a contractual and technical review for the particular setup, not an assumption from a homepage.
AlphaSense and research content
AlphaSense combines premium research content and internal knowledge with AI-assisted research, monitoring and financial deliverables.
The important test is whether the sources your team needs are actually included and useful for its coverage. Evaluate research and model workflows as well as search. Describing it as merely a transcript summariser would miss its broader public proposition.
Hudson Labs and US public-market evidence
Hudson Labs explicitly focuses on US public-market research, including financial documents, search and forensic work.
Test your required filing types, periods and extraction tasks against originals. Accuracy language should lead to a documented test and clear failure handling, not the abandonment of analyst review.
Bipsync and research management
Bipsync focuses on capturing, organising and using an investment team’s collective research. That makes research continuity a separate buying question rather than an afterthought to faster analysis.
Our hedge-fund research-management guide explains how to test a handoff, version history and the ability to retrieve the evidence behind an earlier view.
Altys and Indian research workflows
Altys’s public solutions connect India-first evidence with research, scorecards, monitoring and inspectable outputs. The relevant cross-border use case is a global team covering India, not an implied US-data terminal.
Bring a defined Indian coverage list and one existing research task to the access conversation. Confirm the actual source history, outputs and workflow available for that scope. The US desk’s India research guide describes the comparability issues to test.
Run the same practical test in each system
Choose a small public source pack that every candidate is permitted to use. Include two reporting periods, a presentation and a disclosure with an awkward definition or a changed segment. Decide the expected source matches before the demo.
Ask the system to extract the relevant evidence, distinguish facts from assumptions and explain a discrepancy. Then introduce a question the pack cannot answer. An explicit unavailable result is more useful than a fluent invention.
Inspect calculations independently. An Excel export may contain formulas, fixed values or a mixture. Open it and identify the inputs, units, dates and definitions. A downloadable spreadsheet is not automatically a reproducible model.
Finally, ask a second analyst to continue the task. Can they find the earlier evidence, understand which assumptions were accepted and identify the outstanding question without interviewing the original author? This tests the workflow beyond a polished first answer.
Governance belongs in the buying process
AIMA’s 16 September 2025 research release describes a worldwide survey of fund managers and institutional investors that highlighted oversight, explainability, privacy and related due-diligence questions. It is not a current US-only adoption estimate or validation of any product here.
Translate those concerns into questions about your deployment: who can see private material, what is retained, how outputs can be checked and who approves consequential changes. The answer may differ by subscription, configuration and source licence.
The result should be a shortlist by fit, not a league table built from marketing feature counts. A useful research system earns its place by making a real task more complete, reviewable and reusable.

Frequently asked questions
Which AI research tool is best for a hedge fund?
There is no universal choice. Compare the fund's required securities and sources, the research task, integration needs, verification and record ownership. A market-data workspace, financial-agent platform and research-management system can solve different problems.
Are Rogo, Koyfin and Pascal AI Labs the same type of software?
No. Their public positioning emphasises different starting points: finance workflows at Rogo, market analytics at Koyfin, and institutional research agents and enterprise context at Pascal. Actual overlap should be tested on the same assignment.
Does Altys provide a US stock-data terminal?
Altys's public coverage is India-first. A US-based team researching Indian equities can assess that workflow, but should not infer a US securities database, execution service or replacement for its existing market-data subscriptions.
Is this an independent hands-on ranking?
No. Altys publishes this guide and is included in it. Vendor descriptions are based on dated public materials, not an independent paid-product benchmark. The evaluation tasks are intended to help buyers test fit themselves.
